Where to stay for the Canton Fair
The districts to stay in, their pros during the fair, and the booking mistakes to avoid.

In short
Three options: stay in Pazhou, within walking distance of the fair, the most convenient and the most expensive; in the Zhujiang New Town business district, connected by metro; or further out along Line 8, for a tighter budget. Book as soon as you know your phase.

Pitfalls to avoid
- Booking late: as the fair approaches, the best places near the site are full or overpriced.
- Choosing a hotel that looks close on the map but is far from a metro station: evening traffic makes taxis slow.
- Forgetting you may visit factories: if they are in Foshan or Dongguan, a hotel well connected to the train stations can be more practical.

Frequently asked questions
When should I book my hotel for the Canton Fair?
As soon as you know your phase, ideally six to eight weeks ahead. Hotels near the site fill up quickly and their rates rise as the fair approaches.
Is it better to stay near the fair?
For a short visit, yes: you save time every morning and evening. On a tight budget, or for a stay that includes factory visits, a hotel on a direct metro line is often a better compromise.
